One of the largest building sites in Europe: Hamburg’s Hafencity development is taking shape and ELA Container is in the middle of it all. There is still a lot to coordinate before the first flats in the new accommodation on the banks of the Elbe are ready to be occupied. ‘Planning and steering are everything on a building site’, says ELA Area Sales Manager Thomas Nohrn. That is why ELA Container provides room solutions for building sites with accommodation, changing rooms, offices, meeting rooms and sanitary areas – available to rent and buy.
The Eggers Group, an underground engineering firm based in Tangstedt, has also made use of flexible building site containers from ELA: Nineteen combined ELA building site containers with a total useful area of 290 square metres over two floors can be found on the Strandkai where the company is currently preparing the building plots. ‘Working with ELA Container was simple and service-focused,’ says the site manager Denzau. ‘We had good discussions on-site and received the container systems we wanted on the planned delivery date.’ ELA Container was considered to be very flexible.
Besides office containers and accommodation containers, the container system features changing rooms, meeting rooms and sanitary containers. ELA equipped the room containers with the right furnishings for immediate use; chairs, desks, cupboards and lockers, as well as a kitchen, were already in place when the system began operation. With an additional septic tank, ELA helped to counteract the limited infrastructure on-site.
ELA also fitted the containers with platforms, external stairwells and air-conditioning units for an excellent room climate. Depending on the progress of construction, the ELA containers will remain on the building site at Hamburg’s Strandkai for six months to a year. ‘That is the advantage of system building’, says Nohrn. ‘With our ELA building site containers, site managers can react flexibly to any situation and expand or reduce a system where required.’
